snowman 3D latte art - chubbychinesegirl 3

Dear Food Diary:
It’s been a crazy winter this year. With blizzard after blizzard, I’ve been hiding indoors (thank goodness).

My itch to build a snowman turned into my new fun obsession – 3D latte art.

Dear Food Diary:
I wasn’t going to post about Valentine’s Day but these Chocolate Praline Love Letters from Dominique Ansel are just too adorable. I’m in love with the packaging and their description:

Soy Hound: artisanal fresh pressed soymilk

soy hound - fresh pressed soymilk

Dear Food Diary:
I was delighted when the founders of Soy Hound sent over some of their artisanal fresh pressed soymilk for us to sample. Using traditional methods, they turn organic soybeans into drops of nostalgic childhood memories for me. Waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh soymilk is one of the few things I can still recall as a ChubbyToddler living in Shanghai.

And even though they’ve added some modern “flavored” versions, the creativity doesn’t take away from the pure flavors of good old fashion soymilk.

Curious Candy: Cynthia Rowley New York

Curios Candy by Cynthia Rowley

Dear Food Diary:
A few afternoon’s ago, while sipping cappuccino at Lady M, mysterious looking branches and giant red blossoms peaked through the window. At first I thought it was an outdoor art exhibit. But, to my surprise, this was the storybook like hidden alleyway to Cynthia Rowley’s new Upper East Side clothing shop…

… and stairs to her version of a dark and dreamy Willy Wonka fantasy. Curious Candy is geared towards kids and those at heart with an active imagination and chic style. Of course, having lot of green doesn’t hurt either since this stuff ain’t cheap.

BANKAKU: Finding Japanese Shrimp Crackers in Singapore

BANKAKU - shrimp cracker from japan

Dear Food Diary:
While taking a delicious stroll at Takashimaya Singapore‘s basement food court (food heaven) these cute set of Japanese shrimp crackers caught my eye. Who could resist the sushi like display of crackers!?  I just had to bring home a box. Yaraku – pack of “eight happiness”. They make me smile every time I open a pack.
