EATVENT: Meat Pies and other Thanksgiving goodies at M. Wells

m wells thanksgiving 1

Dear Food Diary:

French class is one of my favorite memories from Toronto public school. Mind you, when I finally made it to Paris, I couldn’t parler any Francais. But those wonderful Tourtière (meat pies) our teacher – mademoiselle M – made for the holidays are still vivid enough, I can smell it. I haven’t had one just like it since, but  genuine nostalgia might be to blame…

These delicious memories came back while reading M.Wells ‘ Thanksgiving email – meat pie season has started!

[ RECIPE ] Best Bloody Mary in America with Absolut

PowerPoint Presentation

Dear Food Diary:
Happy Halloween! I’m not big on the festivities but thought a good Bloody Mary recipe would come in handy tonight. What other drink shouts halloween like this red concoction? Plus, you can pretty much dress it up any way you want it!

A few weeks ago, I attended Absolut’s Bloody Mary 80th birthday celebration. Did you know it was originally named “Red Snapper”?.

They had a recipe contest for the best bloody mary in America. Got to sample the winning one from Texas. And made my own Bloody Chubby.

It’s that time of the year again, when food lovers go crazy about these wild garlicky greens. I just had some simply grilled last night. So good.

macaron day 2014

Dear Food Diary:
It’s that sweet day of the year again. These irresistibly pretty and yummy French treats are FREE this coming Thursday, March 20th.

To celebrate Macaron Day NYC 2014, I’m planning my day around it. There isn’t a Pierre Herme in NYC but these will do. (Laduree isn’t participating)

Go into one of the participating macaron shops listed below and say “I’m here for Macaron Day”. Don’t forget to also purchase a few to take home, portion of the proceeds will benefit City Harvest.
