Order a “Chubby Chinese Girl” Sandwich at Cer Te

EDIT:
You can now order the Chubby Chinese Girl every Thursday!!!

Dear Food Diary:
That’s right my friends, starting this Tuesday, Feb 2nd (til end of the month), you can go to Cer Te and order a “Chubby Chinese Girl” Sandwich!!!
This all happened thanks to Zach from Midtown Lunch and Cer Te’s Sandwich Challenge. I won for the month of February with my duck sandwich submission. Last Friday the chefs at Cer Te put my idea on a plate, I went in for tasting and made my final tweaks.
Here’s a sneak peak of the Chubby Chinese Girl Sandwich:
A warm grilled baguette, a thin layer of sweet hoisin sauce, packed with soy and citrus marinated Duck Breast, topped with pickled cucumber and radish to contrast the sweetness, lettuce and cilantro for crunch and freshness and hint of spicy srilacha to end every bite with a nice kick.
Here’s the sandwich deconstructed:
grilled baguette with hoisin sauce
the pickled cucumber and radish. Some cilantro

the soy sauce and citrus marinated duck breast.

Here it is up close. It’s sort of like the love child of Pekin Duck and Banh Mi. There’s a play of textures and flavors. Savory, sweet, spicy, sour, crunchy, tender, meaty, soft, grilled and juicy. I really hope you like it as much as I did.
I hear it’s gonna be $8.95!!! less than $10 for a duck sandwich is a crazy and yummy steal! If the sales are good in February, they will have it on their menu permanently! so go and order one will ya!? Sorry, this Chubby Chinese Girl is not included.

Tried your sandwich yesterday and giggled as I ordered it.

It was divine. I'm mostly thankful that I missed out when it was offered daily in February… as I'm pretty sure that I would've happily eaten it every day and my clothes would not fit in March. 🙂

    Brava!
